Shandon Salmon

One cannot help but notice the salmon on the top of Shandon Tower, whether you actually go up to the Church or not. Seen from the centre of Cork City it stands proudly at the of the Tower, the driver of the weather vane.

In the city itself the fish is a welcome visitor up the River Lee and can be found carved into the backs of the chairs found in St. Anne’s Church, the Church of the famous Shandon Tower.

It’s great to hear that these fish still travel through the City of Cork.
