Family lore has it that he walked by a packed local tavern on St. Patrick’s day and, snorting in derision, said “Amateurs.” Micky lived on a farm, supposedly drank a quart of gin every day of his adult life, and lived until he was 72.
My father and I have thus concluded that farm life is deleterious to one’s health.
