While in Arran we got to do a small falconry experience with Ian Struthers of Arran Birds of Prey and this brought us up close and personal with these magnificent birds.
My their beauty has to be seen to be believed. It was also good to meet a dedicated man such as Ian and I hope these few images help to underline the experience we had (may post some more soon).

And finally one of his latest pupils:

You are an excellent photographer Mick , and were part of a really likeable group it was a pleasure to meet

Spectacular photos! I was just in Ireland and was able to hold some special birds as well. I have a great appreciation for the Falconer and the love he has for his birds. https://brilliantviewpoint.com/2017/08/31/falconry-at-adare-manor-castle-hotel-in-ireland/

Awesome π I got to fly a Harris Hawk at the Cotswolds Farm Park on my girls weekend away! It took me back to my childhood, learning the art of Falconry from a family friend with his dear little kestrel π It’s such a joy to watch the birds flying!

Yes, they are such fabulous and delicate animals. Personally I love the Barn Owl, so incredibly light.

Oh I got to handle a wonderful elderly barn owl a few years ago at a rescue centre in Devon! They’re just extraordinary birds π

Thanks Anna, and glad you liked the people portraits too – my own favourite is the one of Ian Struthers, the Falconer. It just captures something special….
