So Clue 1 had France as the most likely country of destination while clue 2 caused a wider spread of choices.Β Am I being helpful or more likely just trying to confuse?
All the images were taken in April 2016 from a single region within a country.
The next images may help cement existing impressions or derail further:

To help you out, this part of the country has the area that receives the most rain. I was really surprised at this and despite reading it in the Rough Guide had to look it up online for confirmation. Confirmation gained.
So there you are, I was in the region which hosts the spot that gets the most rainfall within this country. I really do know how to choose my holiday destinations. π
So where are your thoughts heading now?
No idea, but lost in the beauty of where you are π

I think it’s Naples! Those look like vineyards to me and with the poplars too?!? Of course if it is Spain then Google assures me that the wettest place is Grazalema in Andalusia π

I am going to say Andorra based on no evidence or knowledge whatsoever. I simply just don’t get the opportunity to type Andorra.

I just love the sound of some places purely by their name. Mandalay and Timbuktu are but two that come to my mind π

Well I am pretty sure your photos are not either of those but I agree with you. My Granddad was born in Kuala Lumpur and I always thought that had a lovely ring to it.

Been to the airport there to change flights for Borneo, but that doesn’t really count. π
