The Skibbereen Charity Adventure Race (SCAR) takes place on Saturday 18th October and has some high class endurance athletes in the field. Worry not, there is an “entry level” taster taking place on the same day in the glorious environs of Skibbereen and West Cork. A mere 5km run combined with a 12km cycle with the run being on woodland trails in Liss Ard House Estate.
Personally I love the sound of kayaking 1km across Lough Hyne, a wondrous salt water lough, but for that one would need to step up a gear and do the 40km “Sport” event. If you are still chewing on your sixth shredded wheat, that’s ok, the 76km “Expert” event is the one for you.
The best bit is that, as a result of a lot of hard work and support, all the entry monies from this event are going to charity. So don the runners, get on the bike, splash the blade or just wish the competitors well.
