In staying in Annagry at the excellent Danny Minnies, we were informed that local bands would be in the streets, both before and after the morning mass. Sure enough, amidst thronged streets there congregated a number of bands from the local area, taking it in turn to rustle up a tune.
The atmosphere in the village was fantastic and almost seemed to belong to a bygone era. On the footpath, young mothers had pushchairs and young children, fluent Irish could be heard being used as a first, not second, language. So here are a few black and white shots of some of the people making that morning special.
