This is the entrance to Oldcourt House which is listed as a protected building, but alas I am not sure what remains, other than a farm. Despite the notices on the gate and wall, this appears to be a popular place to park the car when going for a walk in Garryduff Woods.
Just inside the gates stands a boarded up lodge.
The track leads to a path which takes one into Garryduff Woods. The wood sits on the south eastern edge of Cork City by the suburb of Rochestown. Despite being so close to the city centre, the streams running through the mixed woodland give the sense of walking in the wilds on the side of a mountain. How to get away from it all and yet not really leave the city.
I will bring you more from this walk in the next fews days, but for now here are a couple more gate pictures.
