Coming down by road to Cork from Dublin I always feel I am there, back on home ground, when travelling alongside the River Lee into the City. It’s a real welcome back.
Across the other side of the Lee is the main GAA ground of the County, Pairc ui Chaoimh, together with the leafy suburb of Blackrock. Blackrock has a small marina, a 16th century castle (which after much renovation now houses a cafe / restaurant and the tower is used as an observatory) and a great bakery where I highly recommend the granary bread.
Well here is a tethered boat on the mighty River Lee at Blackrock.

Boat and ripples – irresistible
