On Thursday of last week I managed to get down to Kinsale on the coast where the IFDS World Sailing Championships took place. The racing itself was five miles offshore so I didn’t actually get to see the boats themselves, but one has to have nothing but admiration for the disabled competitors. Can you imagine getting into a sailing boat and leaving your legs behind? And here I am not talking about some big gin palace cruiser, but racing yachts.
So here is the berth of one of the yachts that was out at sea competing, a wheelchair giving it away that this is the place of a competition boat.

I’ll take a classic racing yacht any day. It’s the bloody catamarans that will do more than confirm that you’ve left your land legs behind. Nice reflective capture!
