Madurai Man

From the city of Madurai, well known for its temples, I came across a group of three devotees. There was something captivating about the man in the middle, so I homed in on him and took his picture, before taking a group shot of the three. The background may be a little bit distracting but there was little I could do about that and I still like the shot. Let me know what you think.

  1. Hi Mick,

I just looked at this again and read your text and NO, the background isn’t distracting! My first thought on seeing this portrait was National Geographic cover. I think the turquoise background actually enhances the whole image and contrasts nicely with the pinks and corals.

This really is a gorgeous portrait.

  2. A good shot, MM.
I don’t think the background blue distracting, but it wouldn’t want to be any brighter or sharper in focus.

Sometimes, you just can’t do anything about the background – you’ve just got to take the shot and be grateful the subject fills most of the frame.
