The golden salmon weather vane stands proud at the top of the Shandon bell tower overlooking the city of Cork, Ireland. The tower can be climbed by visitors to Cork where you can not only take in the view but ring the well known bells themselves. There’s even some suggested tunes to try. For many people, this is the symbol of Cork City and appears centrally on the Cork badge.
Maybe the hound would like to climb the stairs? π Another lovely frame of Cork. Thanks!

MM, you have made this place look magnificent! The quality of the light on the columns is lovely. I rang the bells myself a couple of months ago. What a great view from the top. Hope you have some images to share!

I have to confess that this was in the morning last week and I had no time for climbing the stairs – had to get back to walk the Hound. MM

Thanks Joan, I don’t find it the easiest place to capture. MM π

It looks so… deserted! Did you cordon off the streets or is it usually like that?

It was fairly early in the morning and I waited for my moment. It is not the busiest of places anyway as is at the top of the hill. MM π

I have walked those streets and I keep saying it, but I must go back – great place nicely captured.

I’ve been up there doing the touristy thing with visitors but it is not the easiest place to photograph. Glad it brings back good memories. MM π
