Swords lies just north of Dublin and its airport, and we visited the place for the first time in January. Truth is I never realised that it had a castle until I looked a little more closely at the map ahead of our visit.
Well here we have a scene taken from inside the fortified walls. It is great to see a piece of history being restored to become a centrepiece and used for the community with Christmas markets, concerts taking place.
My favourite part of the castle complex was the tiled floor of the chapel;
It was stunning.
Always nice to be pleasantly surprised.
