Ok, it is not right in the heart of Cork City but is by the suburb of Rochestown, just a couple of miles from Cork City centre . If you managed to brave the gates of yesterday’s post ‘The Gateway‘, then you soon feel as if you are in the wilds, by the side of a mountain stream.
Carry on by the track and you will come to a number of old ruins by a high wall. This ruin is overgrown by ivy, claimed by moss and has trees growing inside and outside its old walls.
Below is the moss covered tree with ivy climbing up its trunk towards the light. The tree is found in the centre of the ruin, clearly having sprouted many a year before.
Tomorrow we hang around for one more glimpse within these ruins before moving up the hill. Hopefully you will stay tuned for more. MM 🍀
Just found this place today. Love your photographs. I will follow you on Facebook.

Wonderful woods.
The second image of the archway covered in ivy looks like time standing still. Once almost has that feeling of awakening after hundreds of years of sleep and coming across an old archway that has become overgrown while one has been away.

I saw a similar ruin in the woods when I visited family in Germany…there is something magical yet creepy in a place like this. Magical because nature reclaims it and runs her green tentacles through the manmade remnants; creepy because I wonder who has lived there, under what circumstances, why was the place abandoned…

I think it makes one wonder what was there, w=hat is its history but I am glad to say I don’t automatically think haunted and something terrible must have happened. Would be interesting to know mind. MM 🍀

I was here today with the wife and Hound. It really is a great spot and the Hound loves to explore the wood. there was a scout group there today doing a load of activities. Great to see. Hope you are having fun in East Anglia and the storms are well and truly over. MM 🍀

It’s amazingly warm for this time of the year. The storms are over and the coast road is open to traffic again after crash. It’s a very quiet time of the year, I love it.
Say hello to your wife and give the Hound a big hug cuddlehug from me. 🙂
By the way, our trip to Ireland is postponed to next year, I’ll probably get back to you for some advice then.
Have a lovely evening!
