One from the archive, and my favourite of the three entered for this week’s challenge. In India in the State of Tamil Nadu we came across a street of stone carvers / masons and were invited to look into shops and browse the wares. Looking straight through one shop and out the back I could see some of the masons working with nothing more than a chisel and mallet.

So through the shop I went to the other side, to the delight of those working there. It was incredible and this one man really caught my eye. Quite what this block was going to be I do not know, but it sure looks like this task is only just beginning.
Like Michelangelo, he already saw the shape inside the stone and got to work removing the “extra” stuff that didn’t belong to the shape he envisioned.
