Gnarled Wooden Post
Felled in the forest many years before
Stripped and shaped by the teeth of a saw
Driven deep, deep, deep into estuary mud
A dependable anchorage for many a year
Vessels secured by chafing ropes
A transit post to flee the famine
Fisherman, soldiers, merchants I’ve seen them all
Galleons, schooners, big and small
Idle and alone I stand today
The river’s debris batters my side
Salt water into my wounds on the incoming tide
Gnarled and old, but here I’ll stay
Meticulous Mick
Absolutely love the picture and the words. Your pictures are all so amazing.

I sure did write it. I liked the picture but on its own didn’t think it stood out enough (called it wood on silk). So I tried putting words to it. Very grateful for your incredible support Anna. Have a great day in Sweden, MM 💚
