I thought I would put together a short gallery of some of the photographs that I took when the Disabled Sailing World Championships were on in the summer. As you may recall from the previous post ‘Gone Sailing‘, the boats were out on the open seas when I was around, but I did manage to get to walk around the pontoons. Here in little Kinsale were top athletes from all over the world, leaders in their field.
On the pontoons lay abandoned wheelchairs, crutches, prosthetic limbs and such essential equipment for manoeuvring on land. This equipment was now redundant as the yachts not only tackled the ocean waves, but competed against each other.
I have to say I was left with nothing but admiration. Just seeing the empty berths and the above equipment lying around made me feel inspired. These really are special sportsmen (and women). Hats off to you all and I hope you had a great time in Kinsale.
Love this. Beautiful shots indeed.
