The other day I took on the role of Victor Meldrew, that miserable old grouch from “one Foot in the Grave” and what happens?

I get nominated for the “Sunshine Award”. Now that’s what I call ironic. Perhaps I should invent the “Ironic Award”, now that would really provide a teaser as to whether one should accept it or not. Blimey it almost sounds a good idea for a spoof. Watch out, watch out!

For now back to the business in hand, to thank Brigid Jackson of Ariston Organics for the nomination (of the Sunshine Award I hasten to add).  I guess I bring a smile to her face as The Sage and I scramble around the plot and bring tears of laughter as she sees us struggle in our own patch. Now having accepted the award I am required to answer the below questions and then nominate 10-12 blogs for The Sunshine Award.

• Giving or Receiving Gifts? If only one, giving (but let’s face it both is best).

My nominations for the Sunshine Award are given below. I’d like to highlight the first of these, Broken Light. It is a ‘collective’ site where work of artists suffering from various mental illnesses is placed, with a single artist being featured daily. The images are stunning, this is no sympathy call, and if you don’t believe me go visit yourself.  I doubt they accept awards as I cannot see a mechanism for doing so and that is fine, but it would be amiss of me not to include them on this list as the site certainly provides sunshine to others that may also be challenged mentally (as well as to many others).

Similarly if you are on the list but don’t accept award nominations, there is no issue in that and simply thanks for spreading a bit of sunshine.
