The flower of West Cork

The flower of West Cork

A fuchsia blossoms in the back garden. The fuchsia is a widely used symbol of West Cork and can be seen on many of the road signs in the area. At this time of year it is easy to see why – banks of them can often be seen lining the road on either side. Typically the best way to find them is to look for a really small single track lane with grass growing in the middle and explore further. A wonderful treat.

  1. Thanks for reminding me of this. When we were in Ireland, the fuschias were blooming everywhere. People grow them in pots on their patios in California. Great detail in your photo.
