The Door of History

The Door of History

Heading out to the Beara Peninsula this building nestled in the corner of a field and shrouded in vegetation caught my eye. So on the return journey when I had a bit more time I stopped to try to capture the scene. It’s amazing to see the way that the stone walls appear to have coloured so differently and the brightness of the grass contrasts with the dark shadow cast by the building.

It is, however, the doorway and the detail in the stone of this entrance that captivates me and makes me think of all those that might have passed in and out of this building over the years.
