Another building that I wanted to capture on my night foray of the Cork Docks was the Odlum’s building; a lovely old red bricked waterfront building. It spoke of a grand bygone era.

The modern carriages out front, a simple give away as to the era of this image. Personally I like the contrast with the lower lying building to the right.

I also took the opportunity to see how the camera would handle an HDR shot at night, recognising that the overexposed shot would take considerable time. The comparisons are seen below:

I personally prefer the more natural look of the single shot on the right, but what do you think?

  1. Great images all which certainly do speak to a glorious past. Have always liked photos of buildings on the water, especially at night. Excellent!

    1. Learning is all part of life’s great education. I think HDR works best in large landscapes at daytime, but thought I’d just experiment here. Cheers for the feedback Anne and have a great day, John 😘
