Having flown into the island of Colonsay and with public transport being minimal, the question was how to explore it the best we could in the time we had.
With the island being c. 2 miles wide and 10 miles long, the bicycle was the obvious answer and Archies bikes were dropped at our hotel for our convenience. I cannot recommend the bike highly enough as a way to see this island, absolutely perfect.
At the southern end we crossed the golf course and the airport runway and flew past standing stones, feeding geese and Colonsay House, as we made our way north to Kiloran Bay.
So what can I say, but in the words of Freddie Mercury, “Get on your bikes and ride……”
For those wanting to see more information about this island there is a very inviting website just here: Colonsay Info.
Looks beautiful! I wish I could cycle well!

We didn’t visit Colonsay when we were in Scotland, but I read a book about it by John McPhee, The Crofter and the Laird. It was interesting! Glad you had a good trip.

What a perfect-looking day! Such a rugged terrain, best observed by bike, indeed, methinks!
