One Four Challenge III – The Fallen

In honour of Remembrance Day marking the end of the second world war, I bring you “Fallen” for my latest version of the One Four Challenge.

The One Four Challenge is the brainchild of Robyn G from RobynG Fine Art and involves taking a single image and then over a four week period presenting four different versions of that same image. It is a challenge to get the creative juices flowing.

Without further ado, here is “Fallen”:

I have not doctored the colours of the leaves and as I etched away on the black and white version I did not know until I started on each leaf, the colour that was about to be revealed.

  6. Really nice concept and great execution. I would comment on my monitor the coloured leaves are quite saturated and so are VERY bright which may well have been the point 🙂

    1. Thank you Lens Addiction, the leaves are done quite bright in order to standout and have an effect. I wanted each leaf to be isolated and thus to stand out more. If done at normal colour I don’t think that would have been the case and the result too muted all round. 👍

  17. This version is quite beautiful ! The colourful leaves are nicely enhanced by the desaturated background ..it truly feels that they have fallen !
    ..and what a great dedication also..with lots of meanings and symbolism !

    1. Thank you so much Diana, I think the symbolism works well and by picking out just a handful of leaves it exaggerates it even more. Even the differing colours of the leaves can be seen as symbolic. Thank you for your input Diana, as always appreciated, MM 🍀

      PS Guess the pressure is now really on for week 4 of the challenge.

        ..btw, did you selected the leaves individually to give them the different colour?
        I liked the symbolism of the green Irish fallen leaves..😉

      2. I simply worked on the black and white version and painted off the “mask” to reveal what was beneath. So I did not know before scraping away, what colour of leaf I had chosen. The key to each leaf selected was its spacing from the other leaves revealed. Roll on week 4. MM 🍀
