Saturday 12th July is Cahirmee Day up in Buttevant, North Cork. Rather than post after the event, I thought I would post before it takes place with a reminder of what the event is about, courtesy of some images taken in 2013.
Personally I loved it and given that this year it is on a Saturday, why not make the trip to North Cork to check out this old fair?

I think this year’s fair is taking place on Monday 14th July, something to do with the old tradition that it could only take place on a week day when the banks would be open, so you may want to confirm that it is on the Monday this year rather than on Saturday.

Cheers for the tip. I have double checked and nowhere can I see anything to say it will be on 14th this year. It all points to 12th as usual.

Thanks for this I will place a post later today advising of the change. I have relatives up there and one lot is saying “Not heard of that, it is always on the 12th” and the other is saying they think it is on the Monday.

Great photos. So many see these days as traveler days out, but it is great to still have them. Imagine how many of these days took place in the Ireland gone by. I hope we never get too “civilized” and lose them forever. So many are gone or dwindling.

I fully agree with you. people were almost urging me not to go last year for my own safety. Along with The Sage we had a great time and got talking to many of the people there. I think it is great that this can continue and provide a shot in the arm for a place that badly needs it. MM 👍
