Weekly Photo Challenge – Selfie

Now I didn’t want to hold my camera away from me and try snapping as it would be a bit too much of a close up for anyone’s comfort.

So I wheeled out the tripod and positioned the camera facing the mirror at a slight angle. When the light came through the patio doors and formed a pattern on the wall, the props came out, including the remote shutter release.

Of course it didn’t take long for The Hound to come sniffing along to find out what I was up to and remind me that it was almost time for a walk.

More selfies to come, but I hope you enjoy these.

      1. Likewise..I have been really busy doing more courses on photography and graphic design and with so many assignments I had little time to follow up posts and be interactive..
I will start again soon after my upcoming exhibition next week..
        I’ll post something soon !
What have you been doing with your time? Traveling or more courses !😅😅

  1. Too cute! Haha! I have to say… it would have made my day to see one of you holding your camera at arm’s length with either the interior of your car or the bathroom shower curtain in the background. Oh, and you with ducklips! Haha! You know… really class it up. xx

      1. Well, I’m considering using a long canvas instead of a standard 16×20 or something similar. Still playing with it… Your composition is so great that it might be best to stay with those dimensions. Thoughts?

  2. Great idea for selfie and lovely photos! Beautiful light! I especially like the second one where your Hound has brought such a kind smile to your face. 🙂

  3. Great shots and taking the image through a mirror was a great idea.

    I’ve used that one myself.

I like the shadow and light in the B & W images you’ve shared – very creatively done. I would love to see some more ‘selfies’ too. I guess with your weather, it’s hard to get outdoors much anyway.

  4. There you are, MM! Would have missed this but had three minutes to sit down today and troll…..not that I’m calling you a troll…no, no, no, smiling with alter ego in hand and not even a wee bit of egg on my face!
Superior Selfie-Shot…of both you and The Hound. Jots

  5. Finally, the face behind the camera! I have to confess, this is quite possibly the best selfie I’ve seen. Love the Irish cable cardigan and slippers…and a personal library to boot. A man after my own heart 🙂

  6. I am a bit humbled by your outstanding composition of a selfie MM, as my own was just a random, imbalanced shot taken in a cafe by my selfie-obsessed teen!

You and Hound look great (methinks Hound has a classic Grecian profile)

(Technically tripods and selfies are an oxymoron) 🙂

  7. Loooove the slippers. 🙂 Awesome selfies. Never thought about a tripod. Who takes selfies with a bulky dslr camera anyway? Selfies were invented as soon as phones had cameras.

      1. I am not the most photogenic individual. It is probably best that I am always behind the camera…by a couple hundred yards. 🙂

  8. Oh, wonderful self portraits – I really like the second one, a very cute smile. :))
And I look forward to see more of your self portraits.

    1. There you are, I think it is way better using a tripod and getting a much better composition. Don’t have to be full on in the lens of the camera and can provide for more shadows etc.. So go on give it a try. MM 🍀

  10. Neat idea to use a mirror in this way…….and at least it proves you’re not a Vampire! I especially like the second shot, because the angle of your face catches the light a little more…….oh yeah and there’s a dog in that one….:0).

  11. LOVE this! So nice to see your “mug” up close! (A nice mug, at that!)
And I love how the light on the lamp makes a star on the one where you are smiling! (Like they do on videos..). A Lucky happenstance or well-calculated?
Ya know, I get the exact same look from Zeke every morning!
