I have been scratching my head a bit on this week’s photographic challenge, but have found a couple of photos that might just fit. The image is of an old stone church featuring a slit window and some ivy growing up the outside. Looking in the window all we see is the outside still, the Church now a complete ruin and overgrown inside and out.
And in b/w:
Around the ruins lies the old graveyard with headstones of varying age and design, the headstones marking the rest of those gone before. Not only the dead, but it seems that the trees have come to rest here too, even the living.
For those interested, this church ruin and graveyard can be found just by Monkstown, County Cork.

Old cemeteries are so much fun to explore and there are zillions of beautiful shots! I like all of these but the first is my favorite. The color and detail are lovely.

That first picture – old stone ruins with glimpses of green life is my favorite contrast. Even the dried up vine against the stone is another interesting detail..

So so gorgeous. I lived for just a year next to a beautiful country church in an old cottage. These pics remind me so much of what felt at last like home (alas no longer) nostalgic now.
